Спящая красавица (Sleeping Beauty)

Long ago, in a faraway kingdom, a king and a queen had a baby girl. They were very happy. They gave a big party and invited all the people in the kingdom.

They also invited seven fairies. Each fairy gave the baby a gift. One fairy gave her beauty. Another fairy gave her kindness. Another fairy gave her a beautiful voice. The king and queen were very happy.

But there was one old fairy who was not invited. She was very angry. She came to the party and said, "When the princess is sixteen, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die!"

Everyone was scared. Then the last fairy said, "She will not die. She will fall asleep for a hundred years. One day, a prince will come and wake her up."

The king gave an order. All the spindles in the kingdom were burned. The princess grew up and was very beautiful and kind.

On her sixteenth birthday, the princess was alone in the castle. She went into an old room at the top of a tower. There she saw an old woman with a spindle. The princess did not know what it was. She touched it and pricked her finger. At once, she fell asleep.

The king, the queen, and all the people in the castle also fell asleep. A big forest grew around the castle. Many years went by.

One day, a young prince came to the forest. He heard the story of the sleeping princess. He wanted to find her. He went into the forest and found the castle. He went inside and saw the sleeping princess. She was very beautiful.

The prince kissed her. The princess opened her eyes and woke up. All the people in the castle woke up too. The king and queen were very happy.

The prince and the princess got married and lived happily ever after.
